MX60 COLLECTIVE: Save the date
To mark the 60th anniversary of Malcolm X’s historic visit to Smethwick, the MX60 Season is running until February 2025 (US Black History Month). The program focuses on anti-racism, the politics of the 1964 election, and the enduring impact of Malcolm X’s work.
The season includes events celebrating his life’s legacy, fostering inclusivity, and uniting communities. It brings together arts, academia, and grassroots engagement to reflect on Malcolm X’s contributions and their relevance today.
MX60 is being developed by a growing coalition of organisations, including BRIG, Black Heritage Walks Network CIC, Black Heritage Arts More, Recognise Black Heritage & Culture, Kalaboration Arts, Stand Up to Racism, Black Country Living Museum, the University of Birmingham and Shaheed Udham Singh Welfare Centre.
Through this initiative, we aim to honour history, promote inclusivity, and inspire unity as we reflect on the lasting lessons of Malcolm X’s visit and advocacy.
