Historic Step Towards an Anti-Racist Birmingham and West Midlands

Wednesday, 30 October, marked a historic day in the journey toward creating an Anti-Racist Birmingham and West Midlands. For the first time, leaders from every sector – city, regional, civic, public, education, private, faith, cultural, community, and voluntary – came together in a powerful show of unity.

This landmark event took place at the BRIG bi-annual summit, titled “What’s Changed?”. During the summit, a bold pledge was signed, marking a significant step forward for both the city and region’s future.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and contributed to this momentous occasion. Special thanks go to the talented BCU students for their excellent photography and videography, which beautifully captured the essence of the event. We are also deeply thankful to BCU, Punch Records and the West Midlands Combined Authority for their generous sponsorship, which made the BRI Bi-Annual Summit possible.

Next Steps

If you were unable to attend the BRIG Summit on 30 October but would still like to sign the pledge to work together towards an Anti-Racist Birmingham and West Midlands, you will have another opportunity at the upcoming BRIG AGM.

The BRIG AGM will be held on 11 December at 6 p.m. at our new home, the BRIG Café @ The Warehouse (54-56 Allison Street, Digbeth, B5 5TH). This is an excellent chance to join the movement and make a difference.
